Part 2: Planning My own Personal Brand Shoot With You In Mind
As I plan my own personal brand shoot, I’ve been quietly applying the exact process I guide my clients through. And in doing so, I’m reminded just how much thought goes into this work—not just in how it looks, but in what it communicates.
At the heart of it is clarity. Clarity around what I do, who I do it for, and the transformation I want to make possible. In planning this shoot, I’m using the StoryBrand framework to help shape those decisions—just as I do with clients. I’m not the hero of the story here. I never am. The images I’m planning aim to reflect the real hero: the client. The woman building something meaningful. The one who’s ready to show up fully in her business.
Following the Framework
Using the StoryBrand structure helps me organise everything around what matters most: the client’s journey.
As I think through my own shoot, I’ve been asking:
Who is the person I’m speaking to?
What are they struggling with?
How does my work help them get where they want to go?
From there, the shoot becomes less about capturing a nice photo and more about visually expressing a sense of possibility. I want someone to look at these images and say, “That feels like me. That feels like where I want to be.”
Revisiting My Own Journey
Like many of the women I work with, I’ve been evolving. Quietly, thoughtfully. Behind the scenes, I’ve been refining what I offer, how I want to spend my time, and the kind of impact I hope to have.
This shoot marks a moment of stepping into that with more intention. I’m taking the time to reflect on the services I’ll offer in the next couple of years—what’s included, how and where they’ll take place, and what they help create for clients.
I’ve been curating visuals that match that direction. Just this week, I pulled together 50 client images that feel like the most “me.” They’re full of colour, movement, honesty—and they show the kinds of clients I adore working with: women running their own businesses, from coaches and creatives to wellness practitioners and product-based founders.
Planning What to Show
The images I’m planning will go beyond the classic “branding” moments. I want to show:
A client feeling genuinely comfortable and prepared
Behind-the-scenes glimpses of the process—from outfit planning to reviewing mood boards
Moments of ease and joy in the studio
The experience of seeing your final images and feeling like they match the person you’re becoming
These moments matter. They tell a story. And they remind me how important it is that the visuals we create reflect where you’re going, not just where you are now.
Why I’m Sharing This
I’m sharing all of this because I think it’s easy to underestimate what goes into preparing for a personal brand shoot. It’s more than picking an outfit or choosing a backdrop. It’s about recognising a moment of growth, and honouring it.
Whether you're in the midst of that same kind of shift—or simply considering how you want to be seen—I hope sharing this part of my process shows just how thoughtful and layered this kind of work can be.
This shoot is a mirror. And through it, I’m reminding myself of the same thing I remind my clients: your story is worth telling, and it deserves
